A two-day event kicked off the nine ERA-NET Plus Infravation projects on 12 and 13 November in Brussels (Belgium).

The event was attended by around 50 international experts in road innovation from the Infravation Steering and Management Groups, CEDR, European Commission, project beneficiaries and other road stakeholders.

Peter Wilbers (Rijkswaterstaat, The Netherlands) opened the meeting with a general introduction to the ambitious programme which brings together 11 National Road Authority partners, including for the first time the US and Israel. Liam Breslin (European Commission) encouraged partners to optimize collaboration between the different projects and called on promoting a real cross-fertilisation. Other panellists expressed remarks in the same direction as Pieter de Winne (CEDR), US representative David Kuehn (FHWA) and Thierry Goger (FEHRL).

Representing the industry, Miguel Segarra (Dragados) called for Infravation and its projects to be aligned with industry and put most of the efforts into demonstrations to facilitate its market implementation.

The second day continued with a formal presentation of the nine projects grouped in three sessions.
